CleanGen has announced a new investment partnership with Horizon Infrastructure Partners, a Melbourne-based fund manager specialising in sustainable infrastructure assets. The partnership will support the development of CleanGen's Victorian project pipeline, which includes over 800MW of solar and battery storage capacity across three regional sites.

The agreement marks a significant milestone for CleanGen as it expands its footprint in Victoria's rapidly growing renewable energy sector. Financial terms were not disclosed, however the partnership is expected to unlock substantial capital for projects currently in advanced development stages.

Accelerating Victoria's Clean Energy Transition

Under the partnership, Horizon Infrastructure Partners will take an equity stake in CleanGen's Kerang Solar Farm, Llama Energy Hub, and the proposed Wimmera Battery Storage Project. All three developments are located within Victoria's designated Renewable Energy Zones and have secured grid connection agreements with AEMO.

"This partnership represents a vote of confidence in CleanGen's approach to project development," said Koovashni Reddy, Managing Director of CleanGen. "Horizon shares our commitment to delivering projects that benefit regional communities while contributing to Australia's decarbonisation goals. Their expertise in infrastructure investment will be invaluable as we move these projects from development into construction."

Regional Economic Benefits

The Victorian projects are expected to create more than 500 construction jobs across the Loddon Mallee and Wimmera regions over the next three years. Once operational, the combined portfolio will generate enough clean energy to power approximately 180,000 Victorian homes annually.

Michael Chen, Partner at Horizon Infrastructure Partners, said the investment aligned with the fund's mandate to support Australia's energy transition. "CleanGen has demonstrated a strong track record in navigating the complexities of renewable energy development. We're pleased to partner with a team that prioritises genuine community engagement alongside commercial outcomes."

Next Steps

Construction on the Kerang Solar Farm is expected to commence in Q3 2026, with the Llama Energy Hub and Wimmera Battery Storage Project scheduled to follow in early 2027. CleanGen will continue to manage all development, construction, and operational activities across the portfolio.

The partnership remains open to additional projects as CleanGen's Victorian pipeline expands.
